Process flow
Industrialized production process of canna edulis starch:
Canna edulis - hydrodynamic conveying - cleaning –rasping & desanding - centrasieving - concentrating and refining - vacuum dewatering - airflow drying - packaging.
Stones removal and cleaning:
canna edulis through hydraulic transportation into the secondary paddle washer, drum spray washer for stones removal and cleaning to ensure the cleanliness of raw materials (When receiving raw materials, large pieces of plantain taro need to be manually broken down to facilitate subsequent cleaning and processing.).
Rasping&Desanding:
The cleaned canna edulis is fully crushed by the filing mill to release more free starch particles and ensure higher starch extraction rate. The specially designed desander is placed after the filing mill to efficiently separate sand and other impurities, reduce the ash content and protect the centrifugal sieve to ensure higher product quality.
Centrifugal:
Choose different specifications of centrifugal sieves according to different situations, so that the fibers and starch in the canna edulis slurry are fully separated, while reducing starch loss.
Hydrocyclone Refining:
This is the most important step in the whole starch production line that affects the quality of starch. Crude starch is refined by hydrocyclone unit to separate protein, fine fiber, salt and etc.
Dewatering:
Adopting vacuum filter to ensure uniform and stable moisture content of dewatered materials and lower water content, saving energy consumption in drying process.
Drying& Cooling :
Utilizing the high speed flow of hot air in the air flow dryer to suspend the wet starch in it. The dehydrated starch is further dried to the required moisture content of the commercial starch during the airflow process.
Sifing& Storing:
After drying, the starch is transferred from the screw conveyor to the vibrating screen to separate and remove the paste and coarse particles from the fine starch. Dried starch is sifted and reached to standard of fineness, and stored in silo.
Weighing & Packing :
Fully automatic or semi-automatic packing machine is used, by jumbo bag or 25 Kilo bag.
