Shandan County in northwestern China is renowned for its distinctive potato industry. However, behind the prosperity, the treatment of starch-rich process wastewater once posed a significant environmental challenge for local enterprises.
Recently, a fully automated, unattended starch recovery project, custom-built by Tidecom Group for a client, has commenced operation. This system transforms the previously troublesome "wastewater" into a valuable resource, delivering dual benefits for both environmental protection and the economy.
The "Sweet Trouble" Behind the Industry
As a major potato cultivation and processing base in Gansu Province, Shandan County processes a large volume of potato products annually. The production process generates substantial amounts of process water rich in starch—known as starch water.
Direct discharge of this starch not only leads to resource waste but also increases the burden on wastewater treatment. As a leading local enterprise, the client had long been seeking an efficient and economical solution for starch recovery.
Fully Automated, Unattended Recovery System
Leveraging years of accumulated technical expertise and adapting to the plant's existing layout, Tidecom Group provided an innovative solution utilizing a combination of multi-stage hydrocyclone separation and precision filtration technology. The system features remote monitoring and automatic control, enabling starch recovery rates and quality that far exceed industry application standards, achieving a win-win outcome for both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
